In commemoration of its renewal, the Edo-Tokyo Museum will hold a special exhibition titled "Western-style Buildings: Meiji Dreams and Challenges" from June 23 to August 23. The exhibition focuses on the influx and rapid adoption of Western-style architecture during the Meiji period, tracing its journey from initial acceptance to full-scale development. Featuring over 200 items, including the first public display of a legendary National Diet Building proposal, as well as national treasures and important cultural properties, the exhibition presents architectural drawings, models, and historical photographs to provide an accessible look at the innovations of modern Japanese architecture.
