Yang02 Solo Exhibition "Floating Organs"
Summary
The solo exhibition by Yang02, titled "Floating Organs," examines the contemporary condition where technology, detached from the organic body, is externalized and repositioned as a "floating organ" in society, based on the concept of "general organology" proposed by philosopher Bernard Stiegler. This framework views technology as prosthetic, fundamentally supporting human existence while simultaneously posing risks of destabilizing human perception and social structures.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a new work utilizing the 7.2-meter high venue, featuring a dialogue between an AI-equipped drone (DJI's Mavic 3) and a catapult attempting to shoot it down. This interaction highlights the dual-use nature of technology—where civilian drones are used in warfare—and probes power structures and histories of exploitation through the contrast between modern military tech and ancient weaponry. The audience observes this tension across a net and wire mesh.
During the exhibition period, several events will take place, including a talk session with the artist and collaborators, and a guided tour led by Yang02 while sampling an original beer created for the show. The exhibition runs from February 25 to April 5, 2026, at BUG, with free admission.
