"100 Artworks Viewable in Japan: Japanese Contemporary Art Edition" Special Website Launched
Summary
A special website titled "100 Artworks Viewable in Japan: Japanese Contemporary Art Edition" has been launched to visualize the overall appeal of Japan's museum collections and encourage visits to regional art museums. The inaugural theme focuses on "Japanese Contemporary Art," covering works created after 1945. One hundred pieces were selected by an advisory committee from 450 nominated works recommended by curators from over 400 museums nationwide. The special site allows users to view images, basic information, explanations, and links to the holding institutions for the 100 selected works, with plans to release related content such as timelines and interviews in the future. The project is organized by the National Center for Art Research, The National Art Center, Japan.
