Tomakomai City Museum of Art
Summary
The Tomakomai City Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition from April 18 to June 21, 2026, showcasing a series of photographs by the internationally active photographer Naoki Ishikawa. This collection, shown for the first time in Japan, features images of volcanoes and their surrounding environments in the Mediterranean, specifically Mount Etna in Sicily and the Aeolian volcanic islands, which were shot in 2024 following an invitation from Italy. Naoki Ishikawa is a renowned photographer who achieved the historic feat of climbing all 14 of the world's 8000-meter peaks in 2024. Admission is 300 yen for general visitors. To coincide with the exhibition, a lecture by Ishikawa titled "Traveling the Earth" will be held on April 18th at the Tomakomai City Central Library. The museum will also feature a special exhibition on Mt. Tarumae and a courtyard exhibition by Akio Morizako during the same period.
