Max Mara Art Prize for Women Announces Finalists
Summary
Max Mara announced the five finalists for the 10th Max Mara Art Prize for Women: Betty Adii, Dzikra Afifah, Ipeh Nur, Mira Rizki, and Dian Suci, all Indonesian artists based in the country. This edition marks a new format, partnering with the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (MACAN) in Jakarta, following a twenty-year collaboration with London's Whitechapel Gallery. The judging panel is chaired by Cecilia Alemani. The winner, to be announced in May 2026, will undertake a six-month residency in Italy, culminating in solo exhibitions in 2027 at MACAN and Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia. The finalists explore diverse themes, including the political realities of Papua (Adii), the physicality of ceramics (Afifah), mythology and maritime culture (Nur), auditory perception (Rizki), and the structural issues faced by Indonesian women (Suci).
