Collection Exhibition "Between Literature and Art"
Summary
The collection exhibition, "Between Literature and Art," investigates the historical affinity between literature, the art of language, and visual art, which have shared connections through storytelling visualization and common themes across East and West. The exhibition showcases diverse works from the museum's collection, including pieces by Teramatsu Kunitaro such as *Salome* and *Kano Seizu*, Ikeda Yoson's *Santoka Series*, Shinichi Saito's *Gojo Series*, and posters related to proletarian theater, all inspired by drama, Noh, or haiku. Furthermore, it highlights the poet and essayist Kyokin Usuda, a native of Kurashiki City, by displaying works owned by him (by Kanokogi Mokuroku and Mitsutani Kunihiro) and letters sent to him from various writers, viewed through the lens of his relationship with art. The goal is for visitors to appreciate the works more deeply by focusing on the connection "between" literature and art rather than viewing them separately. The exhibition runs from March 14 to May 31, 2026.
