Boosting Independence as Artists, Venues for Exhibition and Sale of Works by Art Students Increase; Cultural Facilities and Companies Offer Career Support
Summary
Initiatives to create opportunities for art university students and graduates aiming for artistic independence are increasing both inside and outside universities. Recognizing that career education for pursuing an artistic path is often insufficient in academia, cultural facilities and corporations are stepping in to offer venues for selling student artwork, thereby providing practical know-how for self-reliance. For instance, the cultural facility 'Bunka no Ie' in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture, held an exhibition and sale event called 'ART SHOP' featuring 28 students and 3 graduates from the Prefectural University of Art, achieving sales of approximately 610,000 yen over two days. The facility began this project in 2022 with the aim of supporting the advancement of future artists.
