Oki (1964-2025) was known for his unique, poetic visual expressions, often involving extensive travel and layering images. He began filmmaking while at the University of Tokyo, winning awards such as the NETPAC Award at the 46th Berlin International Film Festival for 'HEAVEN-6-BOX' (1995). His work spanned the boundaries between film and fine art, including numerous international exhibitions. The retrospective will feature 18 works, including his representative piece 'HEAVEN-6-BOX,' 'Tachi Trip,' and the first and latest works from his 36-year life work, the 'Matsumae-kun Series.' Talk sessions featuring film critics and artists are also scheduled during the event.
