The Obayashi Foundation is hosting a new lecture-screening, "The Price of Gold," by Singaporean artist Ho Rui An, a recipient of the 5th Urban Vision Research Program grant. Scheduled for April 4, 2026, at the Hibiya Convention Hall, the event requires advance registration. The program combines a lecture with film excerpts, narrated by benshi (silent film narrator) Ichiro Kataoka. The work analyzes Japan's financial history from the 1890s to the 1940s, particularly the gold standard, using research into silent films and archives to explore the complex network connecting history, finance, and culture within the modern city.
