Kyoto Art Hotel "BnA Alter Museum" Unveils New Guest Rooms
Summary
The art hotel BnA Alter Museum, located in Shijo Kawaramachi, Kyoto, has unveiled new artist rooms and renovated existing ones as it marks its seventh year since opening. The hotel features 31 rooms, all designed as "artist rooms" that immerse guests in the artwork through the experience of staying there. The newly added rooms are by artist Asako Fujikura, titled "Sunlight Plan, Green Steps" (Rooms 304, 404, 504, 604). Fujikura, who primarily works with 3DCG animation, conceived the space using natural light and stepped structures. The design aims to connect the act of resting on the bed with the feeling of leaning against the curbs or steps of a park, creating an open and calming atmosphere that feels like being outdoors. Elements like the bed and benches function simultaneously as objects of appreciation and practical necessities, implementing Fujikura's interest in "sculptures with function" within the accommodation space.
