The First Contemporary Art Exhibition in the Hoko Region (BBC Biwako Broadcasting)
Summary
The first installment of a series of contemporary art exhibitions organized by the Shiga Prefectural Museum of Art in the Hoko region has commenced in Takashima City, utilizing renovated traditional houses. Titled "Lullaby of One Million Years," this exhibition is the first phase of a project to invite contemporary artists to the Hoko region. The art unit "KyunChome," responsible for the works, attended the opening, describing Lake Biwa as a place where love circulates, having received it through the miraculous journey of water. The exhibition spans three traditional houses in Takashima, featuring works like "Stone that Fits the Navel," which symbolizes reconnecting with the world, and video pieces expressing prayers through bubbles and sound. One piece involves placing a drop of Lake Biwa water on a fingertip, with the artist hoping visitors will take a walk to the lake with that single drop. The exhibition is open until April 19th on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
