A new art festival, "Gero Art Discovery 2026," will be held in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, from September 11 to November 8, 2026. The event will be overseen by General Director and Art Director Fram Kitagawa. This festival merges "Art" with the "Discovery" of the region and self, building upon the success of the previous "Minami Hida Art Discovery" held in Autumn 2024. The scope has been expanded to feature site-specific art across various locations, including the city's rich forests, Hagiwara shopping street, a former school made entirely of cypress wood, and the atmospheric hot spring town along the Hida River, aiming to showcase the charm of the region. Twenty participating artists were announced in the first round, with over 40 artists from more than 11 countries expected to participate overall. The main visual and logo were created through a collaboration between photographer Kohei Kawatani and graphic designer Mariko Okazaki.
