The judging for the MBC Sakurajima Art Exhibition, which features paintings and crafts themed around "Sakurajima" or "Hometown Scenery/Flowers," was held on February 18th, resulting in the selection of the grand prize winners. From 263 submissions, the Grand Prize in the "Sakurajima" category went to Ms. Kiburi Takahashi from Gifu Prefecture for her work titled "Burning Breath," praised for its vivid colors and perspective from an out-of-prefecture resident. The Grand Prize for the "Hometown Scenery/Flowers" category was awarded to Ms. Shimao Nakamata of Satsumasendai City for her piece "Rose Garden." Additionally, the "Sakurajima Art Label Prize," used for the label of the Shochu "Sakurajima," was won by Mr. Takujiro Ishihara of Hioki City for his work "Daily Life." The winning works will be exhibited starting February 21st at the Reimeikan in Kagoshima City, as the usual venue, Kagoshima Prefectural Art Museum, is undergoing facility construction.
