Exhibition of Japanese Painter Kimurabuzan Held in Library Exhibition Room - Introducing Works Including "Koharu" from the Goura Art and Culture Research Institute, Until the 20th (Fri) | Ibaraki University
Summary
An exhibition showcasing the works of Japanese painter Kimurabuzan (1876-1942), who was from Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture, and worked in Goura alongside figures like Okakura Tenshin, is being held at the Ibaraki University Mito Campus Library exhibition room from February 17th (Tue) to the 20th (Fri). The centerpiece of the exhibition is the large folding screen painting "Koharu" (Little Spring), owned by the university's Goura Art and Culture Research Institute. Kimurabuzan was highly praised by Shimomura Kansan as the "number one person in coloring." The exhibition also features other works like flower-and-bird paintings from his later years and Buddhist paintings, as well as his school uniform from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts era. This event serves as the finale for the 70th-anniversary project of the Goura Art and Culture Research Institute, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Kimurabuzan's birth, which is also being celebrated with a separate exhibition at the Ibaraki Prefectural Tenshin Memorial Goura Museum of Art.
