Yara Asahiko Exhibition My Space Light and Shadow
Summary
This exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of works by Asahiko Yara (b. 1953), an artist who has led the art scene in the prefecture. His earliest works, the "My Space Light and Shadow Series," delicately depict abandoned everyday landscapes using the contrast of light and shadow, ironically reflecting the stillness of Okinawa during the tumultuous era spanning the reversion to Japan. Visitors can also enjoy the subsequent changes in his work through the "Wrapping Series," "Dripping Series," and others. Concurrently, the "Museum Collection Exhibition" will feature works by artists from or connected to Okinawa, alongside contemporary art from various Asian countries.
