Tama Art University and NEC Industry-Academia Collaboration Project: NEC DESIGN | NEC
Summary
This industry-academia collaboration project sought ways to contribute to solving contemporary societal challenges using design capabilities. Tama Art University and NEC explored new answers through generating innovative ideas, fostering design talent capable of succeeding in society, and validating design processes. Eight second-year students from the Department of Product Design presented projects under the theme "Design Future Empathy: Designing a Rich Future Life." They aimed to create new value from the perspectives of technology, sustainability, and user experience across areas like living environments, mobility, healthcare, and education. Proposed concepts included "me meal," a lunch subscription service using AI for personalized nutrition; "annulus," a service supporting mutual understanding for teleworkers via a ring-shaped device; and "SYNK," a service for rehabilitation based on electromyography patterns to facilitate a swift return to society.
