Takamatsu City Merger 20th Anniversary Takamatsu City Shioe Museum of Art Collection Plus "Shioe Junior High School + Koji-ro Nakai 'feel with words'"
Summary
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the merger of Takamatsu City, the Takamatsu City Shioe Museum of Art is holding a special exhibition titled "Shioe Junior High School + Koji-ro Nakai 'feel with words'". The centerpiece of the exhibition is a large-scale word monument jointly created by all students of Shioe Junior High School and Koji-ro Nakai, a sculptor native to Shioe Town. The work, themed around "beautiful words," encapsulates the warm messages and encouraging phrases the children wished to convey. Additionally, the exhibition will feature calligraphy works from the museum's collection by Shioe Town natives, the Confucian scholars Tokugai Fujisawa and Nangaku Fujisawa. Visitors are invited to appreciate the expressive potential of characters, imagining the imagery and narratives evoked by the arrangement of words. The exhibition runs from February 17 to March 31, Reiwa 8 (2026).
