Max Mara Art Prize for Women Adopts New International Touring Format, Selecting Indonesia as Target Country
Summary
The Italian fashion brand Max Mara and Collezione Maramotti announced that the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, which has historically supported emerging and mid-career female artists based in the UK, will transition to a new international touring format starting with its 10th edition. The first partner institution under this new structure will be the Museum MACAN (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Nusantara) in Jakarta, Indonesia. After concluding a 20-year partnership with the Whitechapel Gallery, the prize appointed Cecilia Alemani, Director and Chief Curator of High Line Art in New York, to select the host country and partner institution for each edition. For the 10th edition (2025–2027), the prize will target female artists based in Indonesia whose gender identity is woman. The winner will receive the traditional six-month residency in Italy, along with the right to hold solo exhibitions at MACAN in Jakarta and Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia.
