Summary
The Saku City Museum of Modern Art, Oil Ichi-ji Memorial Hall, will host the collection exhibition "A Great Gathering of Animals! - Creatures Breathing in Art -" from March 14 to May 6, 2026. This exhibition features works from the museum's collection that use animals as motifs, tracing their long history in human life, from objects of worship to scientific interest, and their representation in art, including Haniwa, the Tenjukoku Mandala Embroidery, the Choju-giga scrolls, and Edo-period tiger paintings. The exhibition aims to showcase the diverse perspectives and expressions of various artists regarding animals, ranging from realistic depictions to imaginary creatures. The exhibition will run concurrently with the special exhibition "Ikuo Hirayama" and the "New Acquisitions Exhibition - FY Reiwa 6 Acquisitions."
