"Collection Exhibition Phase 3" Special Project "The Work of Art Editor Midori Uekō" (Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art) Venue Report: Tracing the Footsteps of an Editor Who Walked with Artists
Summary
The Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art is hosting a special project exhibition titled "The Work of Art Editor Midori Uekō" as part of its "Collection Exhibition Phase 3." Midori Uekō (1925–2025) worked at Bijutsu Shuppan-sha, contributing to magazines like "Bijutsu Techo" and editing important photobooks such as Ken Domon's "Koji Junrei" and works by Yasuhiro Ishimoto. Beyond editing, she fostered wide-ranging personal connections, publicly and privately supporting numerous artists and critics. Due to her deep admiration for and long association with the Toyama-born poet and critic Shūzō Takiguchi, she entrusted the museum with a vast collection of materials. This exhibition traces her career by presenting representative items from the donation, including artworks, correspondence, editorial files, and materials related to Bijutsu Shuppan-sha.
