Summary

The details for the second 'Mori no Geijutsusai Hare no Kuni Okayama' in 2027 have been announced. The event will take place from September 18 to November 23, 2027. The festival, which debuted in 2024, aims to rediscover regional resources such as the natural landscapes of the Chugoku Mountains, the history of post towns and castle towns, and traditional culture in northern Okayama Prefecture through an artistic lens. It is developed through a combination of tourism and cultural promotion. For the second edition, Yuko Hasegawa returns as the Art Director. Building on the foundation established in the first year, the goal is to create a new art festival with visitors, artists, and local residents. The theme for this year is 'Protopia—Forest Moving Forward'. Hasegawa references the concept of 'Protopia' proposed by American editor, thinker, and technology critic Kevin Kelly. This concept presents a stance of nurturing a better future through the accumulation of small daily improvements, rather than being a utopia or dystopia. The festival aims to create a space where people from fields such as art, technology, agriculture, welfare, and education can meet and collaborate, aiming to reshape the relationship between humans and nature, as well as culture and daily life.
